Badger Class

5 December 2025 (by schoollogin)

What a busy week!

The Christmas celebrations are well underway in Badgers class this week! Our home corner has transformed into the nativity scene. The children have enjoyed dressing up as Mary and Joseph and wise men as they retell the story of the first Christmas during their busy time. We have learnt all about advent, and laid out our advent wreath. The children have enjoyed opening each door of our advent calendar, discovering which child’s face is behind the door each day.

The pantomime visited school this morning! The children thoroughly enjoyed the performance, joining in with all the dancing and fun!

We have continued to practise our nativity on the stage, the children are doing a great job of remembering their actions.

The children have created calendars this week. They are very excited to gift them to their grown ups!

In Phonics this week, we have revised all the sounds we have taught so far in preparation for our upcoming assessments. We have also looked at words ending in ‘s’ that make a ‘z’ sound. For example, bags, pins, pegs.

In Maths, we have looked at the concept of the number zero, understanding that if we have zero of something it means we have nothing. We sorted visual representations into two different groups- zero or not zero?

Next week is Nativity week!! We will be having our dress rehearsal on Monday morning, and then our main performance takes place on Thursday 11th at 2pm. The children have worked so hard on this, it would be great to see lots of adults in the audience. Please enter school via the main reception- the performance will take place in the school hall.

We also have our EYFS disco next Monday (8th). Please make sure your child brings their disco clothes in a named carrier bag- we will change all of the children in school prior to the disco. The disco will finish at 4:30pm.

On Tuesday (9th), we have Mini Pedestrian training. The children will take part in road safety role play activities.

A very busy week ahead!

Have a great weekend,

Miss Corrigan and Mrs Chapman
