PE and Sport
Our Aim
At Driffield CE Infant School our vision of 'learning to let your light shine'' applies to all areas of the curriculum and we believe that physical education and outdoor activity has an important role in helping children to flourish and excel in their aspirations.
Our Curriculum
A wide range of PE is delivered to all pupils to engage and inspire them. Lessons are taught by our Sports Coaches and Class Teachers. The principles of PE and being active are built into as many of our lessons as possible including literacy and numeracy.
In EYFS the children have continual access to the outdoors where they can engage with both large and small apparatus.
Extra-curricular Activities
We have an extensive extra-curricular programme which includes both after- school and lunchtime clubs. We hold a weekly football club and a range of other sports throughout the year. Many of our children compete for local sports teams including football, rugby and gymnastics.
Competitive Sport
All children participate in year group Sports Days every year. As members of the Driffield Sports Partnership, the children take part in inter-school multi-skills competitions and cross-country events.
Sustaining high quality PE and Sport at Driffield CE Infant School
The sports grant is predominantly used to develop staff confidence and skill in teaching PE ensure high quality PE and sport are sustainable at our school.
