What a busy week it has been, and it's not over yet!
Our nativity practise is in full swing. The children have been working so hard, learning songs, actions and movements to share with you next week.
Tomorrow it is our turn to be the audience as the Panto is coming to school. The children will be treated to the story of Dick Whittington. I'm sure there will be lots of audience participation and I can't wait!
Along with all our practising for the nativity, the children have still had time for daily phonics and maths activities. In phonics this week we have been revising the second set of Phase 2 sounds (j, v, w, x, y, z, zz, ll, ff, ss, qu, sh, ch, th, ng & nk). In our writing sessions we have been segmenting these phonemes and writing their matching graphemes to spell words including: ship, moth, chick and zip.
In maths we have continued to investigate numbers to 5, with a particular focus on zero. The children have been investigating images to say if the represent zero or not. The children have continued to explore the composition of numbers to 5, finding two small numbers to make a given total.
Your child should have brought home some phonics resources this week, including the phoneme practise sheets and a set of tricky words. These words do not match the the phonics the children have been introduced to so far and that's what makes them 'tricky.' Please cut up the words and use them as flash cards. You could stick them up around the house and whenever your child walks past one, they have to read it. Or you could have a word of day stuck to the fridge in the kitchen and swap it for a new tricky word each day.
Thank you to everyone who has sent in the clothes for your child to wear in our nativity. If you haven't sent any in yet, please speak to your child's class teacher as soon as possible, as our dress rehearsal is on Monday (8th December).
