UK Parliament Week
Last week we celebrated UK Parliament Week by learning about democracy and voting. The children took part in daily votes, such as which book to read or which game to play. Throughout the week we had a large, whole school vote. The Church School Ambassadors decided on three treats the children could choose between and the winning treat would take place on Friday afternoon. The children each had their own voting slip and they put a cross next to the treat they wanted. The choices were: party games, a film or an ice cream/lolly. The winning treat was ice cream/lolly, so the children enjoyed a choc ice while watching Tabby McTat on Friday afternoon.
Last week the children continued to learn more digraphs in our daily phonics lessons. They were introduced to sh, as in ship, th as in thing, ng as in king and nk as in pink. The children have now learnt all the autumn term sounds and we will send home the Autumn 2 revision sheets this week for you to practise at home before their end of term phonics assessments.
We have been learning all the songs for our nativity and the children had their first practise on the stage on Friday morning. A reminder please that the clothes your child needs to wear under their costume need to come into school this week (Thursday 4th December at the latest). Please make sure these costumes are labelled and in a bag, clearly marked with your child's name. If anyone is unsure or is having any problems, please just ask.
This week we continue with our traditional tales by reading Goldilocks and the 3 Bears. The children will be encouraged to act out the story using puppets and face masks of the different characters.
We have lots of exciting activities planned between now and the end of term, so please look out for the dates on the whole school newsletters.
As always if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Kind regards,
Mrs Dean and the Hedgehog Team
