Badger Class21 November 2025 (by schoollogin) |
This week, the children have been fascinated by the snow! They have enjoyed playing outside during busy time, discussing the change in weather and temperature.
This week in phonics, our new sounds are z, qu, ch. Our new tricky words are: go, no, to, into.
In maths this week, we have looked at the composition of 5 (which 2 smaller numbers can we add together to make 5?) We explored this through the rhymes 5 green bottles. How many are on the ground? How many are on the wall? So how many altogether? Towards the end of the week, we have moved onto identifying 4 sided shapes. Which shape is a rectangle? Which shape is a square?
The children enjoyed their trip over to Driffield Library. Each child has their very own library card and had a great time learning about what a library is, and exploring the range of books.
The Badgers look brilliant in their Fairytale fancy dress! They have enjoyed fairytale activities throughout the day, and finished the day off with a fairy bun!
The children will be bringing a letter home in their bags with information about our EYFS Nativity. It will tell you your child’s role, and what clothes they will need to bring into school. Please check your child’s bookbag.
Next Wednesday (26th), we are hosting our Stay and Play. It is a rhyming themed session linked to our current topic. Please enter school via the main entrance prior to 2pm.
Also, next week we will be celebrating UK parliament week as a whole school. Each day, the children will have the opportunity to vote for a different thing each day. For example: vote for the book at story time, vote for a song for us to sing together.
These next 4 weeks are very busy and jam packed, so please ensure you are checking the newsletter and are aware of everything that is happening on the lead up to Christmas.
Have a great weekend,
Miss Corrigan and Mrs Chapman
