Week 7

Thank you to everyone for attending the parent consultation meetings. We are very happy that all the children have settled in beautifully and are making such good progress.

This week in our maths lessons, we have looked at numbers 1,2 & 3. We have explored different representations of each number, represented each number on a five frame using counters, and using five frames to show one more and one less than a given number.

In Phonics, we have revised all the sounds we have learned so far and continued to practise our blending skills.

In our Heart Smart lesson this week we talked about different emotions and how we can sometimes tell how someone is feeling by looking at their face. The children formed different facial expressions using play dough. A big happy smile, a sad face and a shocked face!

This week, we have had a look at different body parts and how people change over time. We ordered pictures of a baby, toddler, child and adult and spoke about the different things we can do as we grow older. The children had some brilliant answers and enjoyed comparing the different stages to different family members.

On Friday the children had their school photographs taken. They were brilliant for the photographer and we have some fantastic pictures of them all! Please find the photo and further information in your child's bookbag.

Next week is our last week at school before we break up for October half term. On Wednesday (22nd) it is our first Stay and Play session of the year. The focus of our session is 'Funky Fingers' - developing the children's fine motor skills through a range of different activities, as well as playing in all of our areas both inside and out. Please come along at 2pm, and play with your child in our new outdoor area! Please arrive at the main entrance where you will be asked to sign in. We will then come and take you to the classroom for a carpet session of dough disco, then it will be time to go to busy time. The session will finish at 3pm and you will be able to take your child home with you at this time.

Just a reminder- the children break up on Thursday 23rd October for half term. School will not be open on Friday 24th October, as it is a teacher training day.

I hope you are having a great weekend.

Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Kind regards

Mrs Dean & the Hedgehog Team
