Driffield Church Of England Voluntary Controlled Infant School

We have settled into the new Y1 routine - we don't have "busy time" - it's just busy all of the time! Each week I will let you know what we are covering in class so you can help your child. 

Next week in phonics we will be recapping on all taught graphemes from phase 3 that they covered in Foundation Stage and also revisiting s & es making a z sound - fishes, fears, misses etc. 

In maths we are doing place value within 10 and next week we will be covering counting on from any number, 1 more and 1 less and counting backwards. 

Our science is  the human body & senses - we will be focussing on sight and sound next week. This week we discussed the parts of our faces - where Mrs.Jackson was informed about the nasal  & ear hair of Dads and Grandads!! 

In Art we are studying colour mixing and our focus artist is David Hockney. Geography is all about Driffield and drawing maps of the area. 

Don't forget PE is Monday & Wednesday so come in your kit!
