Week 3 complete!
This week we have read the story 'The Enormous Turnip'. The children enjoyed the story, and have had lots of fun retelling it.
In Maths, we have introduced the concept of taking away, using counters on ten frames and 'first, then , now' stories. For example: first we had 7 counters, then I took 2 away, now we have 5 counters.
We have continued our Buddhism activities, discussing the benefits of meditation and having a go ourselves!
In Phonics, we are continuing to read and write new words with adjacent consonants. A few examples include: string, crisp, twist, and strong. Our new tricky words this week are: were, here, little, and says.
Here are a couple of sentences the children could have a go at writing over the weekend:
It is fun to stamp and twist.
The little cow is in the farmyard.
Next week, the children will continue learning about what grows and lives in a garden. Our book of the week is 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle- a family favourite!
Next week, a special visitor from HSBC will be coming to see the children to lead a workshop discussing where money comes from.
Have a great weekend in the sunshine!
