Driffield Church Of England Voluntary Controlled Infant School

It's great to see everybody back after the Easter holidays, I hope you've had a lovely two weeks off. 

We have had a busy first week back beginning our new topic 'In the Garden.' We have been reading the book 'The Extraordinary Gardener' by Sam Boughton. 

In Phonics, we are beginning to use our knowledge of sounds to read words including adjacent consonants (eg: drip, lift, help). We have also introduced new tricky words this week including: said, so, have, like.

On Tuesday afternoon, the children planted their own sunflower seeds. We discussed the equipment we would need, and what we will need to care for the plant. 

In Maths, the children are looking at number 11, 12 and 13 in more detail. We have explored how to represent these numbers on ten frames, and looking at one more/less than each number. 

Next Monday (28th) is class photos day. 

Next Thursday, we are hosting a whole school Bingo! The doors will open at 5:30pm for a 6pm start, it would be great to see you there.
