Badgers Class4 April 2025 (by schoollogin) |
A busy final week!
This week, we have been taking part in many Easter activities. Jack the dog has been telling us the Easter Story in our collective worships, and the children enjoyed visiting All Saints Church for their Easter experience on Wednesday. We worked our way around six stations-each station telling different part of the Easter Story. This morning, we visited church for our end of term celebration worship, lots of singing and dancing! The children have created a beautiful cross, showing their creative skills making colourful flowers from paper.
This week, we have also completed phonics assessments. Miss Corrigan and Mrs Chapman are so proud of the children and the progress they are making! A few ideas for activities in the holidays: tricky word flashcards, writing their name using their wipe clean handout, writing sentences explaining what they can see using their segmenting fingers to sound out each word (example: I can see a flower in the garden. I can see a fish swimming).
After the break, our new topic will be ‘In the Garden’. The children will learn about all the different types of gardens, and how to grow a plant and what a plan needs to survive. We will read a variety of books including The Extraordinary Gardener, Oliver’s Vegetables, The Enormous Turnip, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Handa’s Surprise.
Just a reminder that the children have a letter in their book bag (sent home Thursday) explaining that PE is being changed to a Thursday, therefore please send your child to school in their PE kit on a Thursday instead. We also ask if you could send in a named water bottle for your child to keep in school. We will clean and refill them each day. As the weather gets warmer, please can you ensure your child brings their own sunhat with their name in.
Have a lovely two weeks in the sunshine, fingers crossed! We will see you back in school Tuesday 22nd April.
Happy Easter!
