Happy new year! What a great first week back we have had.
In Phonics, we have introduced the sounds 'ai' (rain, tail) 'ee' (sheep, see) 'igh' (light, right) and 'oa' (soak, road). The children have enjoyed learning the new rhymes, and applying these into reading and writing new words. In your child's bookbag, you will find the 'tricky words' we have been learning over the last couple of months. Please take time to read the handout and have fun playing teachers at home using the flashcards!
In Maths, we have explored representations of numbers 0-5. The children have been working on their subitising skills- knowing how many objects in a small group without the need to count.
In PE, our new topic is Dance! The children have been moving different body parts in time with the music.
Our new topic is Under the Sea! This week, we put a collection of sea animals on a world map and discussed where they live.
Our story this week was Commotion in the Ocean! The children loved this book and learned lots of facts about dolphins, sea turtles, crabs, octopus and many more sea animals.
Next Thursday (16th), Badgers Class are heading across the road to visit the library for the first time! All children should have a letter in their book bags with further details. If your child already has a library card, please can you ensure it is in their book bag on Thursday. If not, please make sure letters are filled in and return back to school Monday.
As this week has been a very cold week, we do ask that children bring in a hat, scarf and gloves with their name in, as the children do go outside both at lunch time and busy time.
Have a great weekend,
Miss Corrigan and Mrs Chapman.
