Busy first week back!

It is great to see the children coming back to school with smiles this week! I hope you had a great week off.

This term, our topic is nursery rhymes and well known tales. Over the next few weeks, we will explore a variety of rhymes and stories. This week we have looked at: Baa Baa Black Sheep, Incy Wincy Spider, Hickory Dickory Dock, Little Miss Muffet and Jack and Jill! The children enjoyed retelling Incy Wincy Spider using our puppets during busy time! Ask the children about these rhymes, can they tell them back to you?

In Maths, we have explored circles and triangles. On Tuesday, the children went on a shape hunt around school to find our shapes in the environment! Maybe at the weekend the children can do a shape hunt around the house looking out for circles and triangles!  What is same? What is different? Which shape has corners? Which shape has straight sides?

In our phonics sessions, we have introduced more digraphs this week (two letters that make one sound). We have introduced: ff (puff, huff, fluff), ll (shell, bell),  and ss (mess, class). As well as this, we have learned 'j'. The children are making great progress with their blending!

Just a reminder- the children have the opportunity to enter a whole school competition as part of UK parliament week. Children and families are invited to create 3D models or pictures of any famous London landmark. We
will have a special Exhibition of all the entries on Monday 18th November at 3.15pm to launch our UK Parliament Week and everyone will be able to vote for their favourites!

Have a great weekend.

Miss Corrigan and Mrs. Chapman.
