Weekly update

Another busy week for the Super Starfish!  The time is just flying by.

In English we are reading The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch. We are looking out for questions such as "How can we stop those pesky seagulls?" and exclamations " Get off my lunch!". We will be planning our own packed lunch followed by testing, designing and tasting a pasta salad.

In maths we have been doing a lot of counting in 2's, 5's and 10's and dividing into equal groups such as  - if i can 30 apples what equal groups could I have?  Next week we move on to fractions, finding half and quarter of shapes and amounts, I'm sure there will be plenty of food references such as pizza and cake.

We all kept a weather diary this week and as predicted there was mainly rain symbols for both morning and afternoon. They recorded the temperature from the BBC weather site too - they are very good at interpreting the data shown, the meaning of the symbol, temperature and wind (24 hr clock is a bit beyond us at this point).

Reading is absolutely flying in the class, huge thank you for reading regularly at home, not just the reading scheme books but a whole variety of books, it is very much appreciated. We encourage the children to read everything around them such as the learning objective ,instructions in maths books and even the menu for lunch and timetable for the day. Encourage them to do this at home or out and about too. It really makes a difference.

Reminder to send trip slips back, it is an excellent trip.

Have a great weekend and see you all on Monday.

Mrs.J and team.
